Well, given all the horrible whiny journals I've made about being unemployed I feel like I should notify individuals that I GOT HIRED SOMEPLACE.

It's bussing tables at a pub. A pub for people with sexual orientations unlike my own. (I'm cute, so I've been informed.) It's one of those places where you're constantly hearing the kitchen staff bang stuff and swear at the dishwasher. :| I'm not going to stop looking for other work. But at least it's something for now.

PS. THE RACCOON RETURNS.

Hey there. This is Tamara, but you knew that already. :)

:star:Rules are like paperclips: meant to keep things together, fun to bend, and easily twisted out of shape.
:star:There is no problem the human mind cannot solve or create.
:star:Step One is learning the ropes. Step Two is chewing through them.
They found the creepiest voice actor too.

Books are good. I'll try to find it. There are many books I want to read. Rainwing recommended one called Tooth and Claw or Tooth and Nail. It's about dragons. I thought I found it a while ago but it turned out to be a crime story.

Yeah, I guess it's been decades. I wouldn't mind using a different game system, but I all ready paid $60 for RMXP, and I've spent months learning how to code with it. :P RPG Maker has a good combination of graphics and story-telling elements (like text boxes) built in. It's not the most splendid thing visually, but I think simplicity works in favour of amateur games, considering the stuff companies are putting out.

Here's the thing I've been working on instead: [link] There's still a lot broken in it.

Project fidelity is an elusive thing. I'm starting to get unfinished paintings piling up around my room. MUST AVOID THAT.

Electrocution cures depression?
Didn't they try that all through the 1900s, and it's a horrible inhumane thing? I guess there's a grain of truth to it though. :P

My novel! :pointr: [link] :pointl:
Whoops, forgot the link! [link] Nothing fancy, but was fun to make. Tapping space clears the canvas and saves a png (which causes a brief pause).

Another thing I was experimenting with was the dropping of dynamic lighting in Construct to the canvas object, obviously boosting performance incredibly once dropped. It was only really viable for single-screen rooms, but enabled the use of changing dynamic lighting (on level load) cast over reusable normal-mapped assets; basically, dynamic lighting on 2D levels without just pre-rendering the whole thing. That was also fun to get working, but I never wound up making a game to use it with.
That project is just gorgeous. You're a great man, Sej. I know I've said this sort of thing quite to no avail before, but I really would love to contribute to some awesome project you've worked on. Though I'm a bit biased here, because SS2 is one of my favourite games. ^^;

Here's something I was working on. It was a bit further than this, but I never got a version exported before Construct bit the dust. I've still got the events to rewrite, just not pieced it back together yet. Simple brush toy.

Your RMXP games are really fabulous; I think you take the potential of that platform to the limit. (Again, I really like this project4 business!) I just wish there were some way to take it away from the graphical appearance of an RPG Maker game. Hmnf.

Simplicity is good, but it's still fun to make something look unique... hmn, hmn. Hmn!
Blgrkglr. Thank you for compliments. :) I'd love it for you to contribute things! And I'm glad you recognized the SS2 influences. That's definitely what it was based it on. :) What stuff can you contribute? You probably noticed the splash images missing from the intro. I was planning on having numerous sequences done in splash art. Would this appeal to you?

Do you think LR2 would work in Construct? If it's open source (like RMXP with the RGSS) then I guess you can do almost anything. If it's possible to achieve the "camera" effect then there's nothing to stop us. :)

I drew a cat in your program. :) Can you add an undo function? That would be quite useful. I like how the ink looks when you draw really quickly.

My novel! :pointr: [link] :pointl:
I keep replaying it, because it's fun. (Project4)

For some reason, I can't figure out how to save. So I got reeeaally far, like all the way to the recharger, but then the plastic explosive crashed the game. :< Oh well, it's fun and not boring to replay. The way you've done it is great. ♥ Seriously, and the portraits and stuff for the dudes and on the logs are really great. I feel like I haven't even seen a fraction of the game yet though, especially because on I've only been a mathematician so far.
Wow! In that broken unfinished version you can't actually save yet. :) And none of the specializations make a difference yet except Medical. And it only goes up to the end of the Dorms. But I'm glad it's fun! How exactly did the explosive crash it? Bugs are bad.

Yes, the cat came out looking a little sick. But it was still fun to do. I like the trooper chick. The thigh guards are interesting. And is that a horse whip?

You can mail cookies if you want. :P

PS. I've had this on replay for pretty much all of today: [link]

My novel! :pointr: [link] :pointl:
Okay! I'll put undo in next time. It'd probably only take layering a couple temporary canvases for like, the past five strokes or something. I could make it scaleable actually, with a loop, to test if it's slow to make a bunch of undo steps... I'm surprised you were able to draw anything in it, haha.

I think LR2 would work just fine, probably better. You can make pretty much anything 100% custom in Construct, though there are preset behaviours and effects to help (they're useful). Camera effect... hm, I'm not sure I remember what you mean. The taking of pictures? That's possible, but the image manipulator is kinda laggy. :\ Might be the one reason not too. I'm not sure why it can't save/load/capture images quickly.

Yes, I noticed some missing splashes. SS2 influences were my first thought! Actually, Fallout was my first thought, with all the character stats, but once in the game I was happy to find the other too. I don't know what I can contribute, ahah. If you lived closer (or I lived closer; could always move to Quebec) then I could bake cookies, and contribute cookies to the project. That'd be good!

... other than that I'm just not sure what I'd make. I've been meaning to try scifi/etc environments but haven't done any yet. I did however draw a stormtrooper chick last night! [link] - kinda want to model her too. Then I could put her in a space station.
